Fazendas Dutra Among Brazil’s Best Coffees of 2025

Dear partners and friends of coffee, We are thrilled to share some exciting news that marks a milestone for our family and farm. Our farm has been recognized as one of the winners of the 2025 Cup of Excellence Brazil.

Our Award-Winning Coffees

In the Washed + Honey category of CoE Brazil 2025, we achieved an outstanding
3rd place with our variety Kent, scoring 90.50 points.
In the Experimental category (variety Geisha), the lot from our farm Água Limpa
placed 8th, scoring 88.37 points.
The award ceremony took place on November 1, 2025, in São Paulo.

The international online auction for the Brazil winners is scheduled for December 9, 2025.

Our Family Story and What This Means

At the ceremony, Victoria Dutra proudly represented our family and business. As part of the fourth generation at Fazendas Dutra, Victoria is deeply involved in the day-to-day operations and in driving innovation while preserving the values planted by her grandmother Osvaldina Dutra and grandfather Zeca Dutra, alongside her dad Ednilson and uncle Walter Dutra. Her presence marked the continuity of our family’s mission: to produce coffees of excellence with respect for people, nature, and quality.

Being recognized at the Cup of Excellence is not just an honor, it’s a gateway to connecting with coffee lovers and buyers around the world who value transparency, sustainability and
exceptional flavor.

Sustainability

Fazendas Dutra is a pioneering coffee producer committed to sustainable and ethical practices. Our regenerative organic coffee (ROC) initiative represents a significant step towards a more sustainable future for coffee production. This report delves into the key aspects of our ROC program, highlighting our commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and product quality.

ROC is a rigorous certification standard that goes beyond organic certification. lt emphasizes soil health, animal welfare, social fairness, and ecological balance.

By adhering to these principies, we aim to restore and regenerate our ecosystems while improving the livelihoods of our workers and communities. We implement diverse cover cropping practices to protect the soil from erosion, improve fertility, and promote biodiversity. Using organic compost to enrich the soil with essential nutrients, enhancing its structure and microbial activity. We minimize soil disturbance through reduced tillage practices, preserving soil structure and reducing carbon emissions.

At our farm we maintain diverse shade tree cano pies to create a habitat for beneficial insects, birds, and other wildlife. Are several species of trees, such as native forest trees, African mahogany, avocado, eucalyptus and other trees.

We have more than 5,000 avocado trees spread across the coffee plantations. The integration of coffee cultivation with other crops and trees, promoting ecosystem resilience and reducing pest and disease pressure. We do not use mechanized irrigation, ali the water we use on our farm is rainwater and we have implementing practices to improve soil water retention, such as mulching and terracing. The vegetation that is pruned below the coffee plants is used as ground cover to protect against dry and hot climates.

Ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, and access to healthcare and education for our workers supporting our local communities through initiatives like scholarships, infrastructure development, and community health programs.

Wildlife Wonders on Our Farm

As you may know, we are proud to be 100% organic producers. This commitment allows us to experience nature in a unique and special way. The vibrant ecosystem here is truly alive—we often spot tatus, snakes, spiders, jaguars, and many other fascinating creatures roaming freely across the land.

From dawn to dusk, the air is filled with the songs of countless bird species, creating a magical soundtrack no matter where you are on the farm. We’re thrilled to share some breathtaking images of these animals with you!

A talented local photographer and nature enthusiast, who lives nearby, has captured these moments. Some of the creatures he photographed were once considered extinct—it’s nothing short of amazing!

We were so inspired by these photos, and we know you will be too.

Cup Of Excellence – ONE OF THE WINNERS 2024!

Last weekend, we traveled to Franca, São Paulo, for the Cup of Excellence event, eager to see how our coffee would rank. To our delight, we achieved 7th place among an impressive number of entries!

Our coffee was presented in honor of our matriarch, Osvaldina Alves Dutra, under our Sitio Boa Vista name. It’s an organic, honey-processed Geisha from Matas de Minas, grown at 1,350 meters, with a score of 88.43.

Our dedication has paid off, as Globo Rural recognized us as the second most sustainable farm in the country in their prestigious Fazenda Sustentável 2024 awards.

For those unfamiliar, Globo Rural is a leading Brazilian media outlet specializing in agricultural news. The Fazenda Sustentável award celebrates farms that demonstrate outstanding environmental responsibility and sustainable innovation. We’re proud to be part of this movement towards a greener future!

The Fazenda Sustentável award, powered by Rabobank, is a prestigious recognition given to Brazilian farms that demonstrate exceptional environmental responsibility, social impact, and economic viability. Rabobank is a global financial services company with a strong focus on food, agriculture, and rural communities. This award is considered one of the most important in the sustainable agriculture sector in Brazil.

Key criteria for the award include:

Environmental stewardship: Farms must demonstrate a strong commitment to protecting the environment through practices such as sustainable land management, biodiversity conservation, and reduced carbon emissions.
Social responsibility: Farms are evaluated on their social impact, including fair labor practices, community engagement, and support for local livelihoods.
Economic viability: Farms must demonstrate financial sustainability and profitability while maintaining their commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

The Fazenda Sustentável award recognizes farms that are pioneers in sustainable innovation and contribute to a more sustainable future. By winning this award, farms demonstrate their leadership in the sector and inspire others to adopt more sustainable practices.

The Sustainable Farm Award 2024 recognizes agricultural properties that demonstrate exemplary sustainability practices. The award is divided into three categories based on the size of the farm: small, medium, and large, with each category honoring three top-performing farms. Out of nearly 100 competing farms, 15 finalists were selected.

Fazendas Dutra secured second place in the medium property category of the 2024 Prêmio Fazenda Sustentável due to its significant sustainable coffee production practices.

Located in São João do Manhuaçu, Minas Gerais, the farm stands out for combining traditional, artisanal coffee-growing methods with modern sustainability efforts. This includes maintaining a balance between productive coffee cultivation and environmental preservation, particularly with over 100 hectares of preserved forest. The farm’s approach highlights their commitment to sustainable agriculture, which earned them recognition
